About Me

I began chip carving in 2008. A friend suggested suggested adding color to the depictions of Chinese flower vases I was working with so experimented with different colorizing agents and techniques until I found a process that worked well for me. I’d be interested in hearing from other chip carvers using color.

I enjoy chip carving examples of traditional art from various cultures. I’ve done some southwest Native American, Chinese, Celtic, Turkish, Arabic and, most recently, Persian.

I work almost exclusive in butternut although I have done a few pieces in mahogany.
